Privacy notice for people who have not signed up for Kinship

Who we are

Kinship is a personal relationship-management product operated by S4 Solutions LLC (“we”, “S4”). Our contact for privacy matters is our contact form.

Why your data may be in Kinship

Kinship is a personal CRM — a tool for individuals to manage their professional and personal contacts. A person who uses Kinship (a “controller user”) may have added your name, email address, phone number, LinkedIn URL, employer, and personal notes about your relationship with them.

We did not collect this data from you directly. It was added by the controller user from their own knowledge, from a LinkedIn CSV export, or from a Google Contacts sync. We do not purchase, scrape, or enrich contact lists from third-party data brokers.

What categories of data may be held

• Name
• Email address(es)
• Phone number(s)
• LinkedIn profile URL
• Employer and job title
• Date of professional connection
• Personal notes authored by the controller user
• Life events (e.g. career changes) as recorded by the controller user

We do not hold special category data (health, religion, political views, etc.) about non-users.

Legal basis for processing

We process this data on the basis of the controller user’s legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in managing their professional and personal relationships using a private, user-owned contact database. A full Legitimate Interest Assessment is published here.

How we protect your data

• Data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3).
• Row-level security ensures each controller user can only see their own contacts.
• Your data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for training AI models.
• AI features (contact summarization) are opt-in paid-tier only and require explicit controller-user consent. Free-tier contact data is never processed by an AI model.

How long data is kept

Your data is kept for as long as the controller user maintains their Kinship account. If the controller user deletes their account, all associated contact data is permanently deleted within 30 days. You may also request deletion directly using the form below.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to access, delete, or restrict processing of your data, and to object to processing on legitimate interest grounds. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

You can exercise these rights using our Data Subject Access Request form. We respond within 30 days.

For complex cases — for example if your name appears in free-text notes and cannot be matched by email, phone, or LinkedIn URL — please email our contact form to request a manual scan.
